Meteorite Crashes Through Roof in GermanyβFireball Seen Across Europe

On March 8, 2026, a meteorite fragment punched straight through the roof of a house in western Germany. Firefighters and police arrived quickly, inspected the scene, and confirmed thereβs no ongoing danger to residents. The rest of the fragments are being collected for analysis.
Before the impact, thousands of people across Europe reported seeing a bright fireball in the sky. Eyewitnesses in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, and parts of France described it as a βburning rocketβ or a βfiery flashβ with a long glowing trail. Videos and photos flooded social mediaβthe sight was visible for hundreds of kilometers.
At first, some online speculated it could be a rocket, drone, or even a military test. Authorities quickly ruled out any human-made threat. It was confirmed as a natural meteoriteβsmall pieces of space rock that entered the atmosphere, broke apart, and fell to Earth.
Events like this are rareβespecially when the fireball is seen across so many countries at the same time. Most meteorite falls go unnoticed, but this one lit up the sky in multiple countries simultaneously. No injuries were reported, but the roof damage shows how even small fragments can cause real trouble when they hit the ground.
