Iran Missile Attack on Dubai: Palm Jumeirah Hit, City Turns Into Ghost Town Overnight

Iran Missile Attack on Dubai: Palm Jumeirah Hit, City Turns Into Ghost Town Overnight

Dubai, once the world’s luxury capital, suddenly became a ghost town after Iran launched a massive missile and drone attack. Authorities immediately closed all beaches, blocked access to Palm Jumeirah, and left hotel pools completely empty. Residents and tourists now stay indoors or hide in shelters because they fear further strikes.

What Exactly Happened During the Attack

On February 28 – March 1, 2026, Iran fired roughly 140 ballistic missiles and over 200 drones at the UAE. Although UAE air defenses intercepted most of the projectiles, several missiles still reached their targets. As a result, fires broke out in the famous tourist area of Palm Jumeirah.

Iranian strikes directly hit multiple five-star hotels, including Fairmont The Palm. In addition, debris damaged the iconic Burj Al Arab and started a fire on its upper floors. Moreover, areas around Dubai Marina and the airport also suffered from falling fragments.

How People in Dubai Reacted

Eyewitnesses describe an eerie silence across the city. Escorts vanished from the streets, taxis stand empty, and almost no cars or pedestrians appear outside. Meanwhile, supermarkets quickly sold out of drinking water, instant noodles, and toilet paper as residents rushed to stock up. Therefore, everyone now stays home or takes shelter as authorities recommend.

This Iran attack on Dubai 2026 dealt a heavy blow to the emirate’s tourism industry. Consequently, Dubai International Airport cancelled all flights and stranded thousands of tourists in hotels. Furthermore, the world-famous Palm Jumeirah β€” Dubai’s main landmark β€” remains completely closed to the public. Analysts already predict multi-billion dollar losses in the coming weeks.

  • Authorities closed all public beaches and major attractions
  • Airlines cancelled hundreds of flights across the Middle East
  • UAE officials declared a full emergency alert
  • At least four people suffered injuries from fires on Palm Jumeirah

Why Iran Targeted Dubai

Iran carried out this direct retaliation after the US and Israeli operation killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28. Iranian officials clearly stated that they targeted US military bases and interests in the region, including facilities inside the UAE.

Airspace over the UAE stays closed. Officials continue to assess the damage, and occasional air-raid sirens still sound. However, the situation remains extremely tense and changes every hour.

The Iranian strike on Dubai turned this safe luxury paradise into a war zone for the first time in its modern history. Therefore, stay tuned for live updates as the crisis continues to unfold rapidly.
